Something So Ugly....So Beautiful

As you enter the Holland Tunnel, there is a road that has rounded stone columns covered in graffiti and dirt from years of wear and tear.  As you approach, it's almost surreal and has the feeling of entering another time and another world. Last week I was stopped in traffic and a friend grabbed my camera and took this picture.  I didn't look at it until I put in on the computer.

What a beautiful photo....of something that I thought was dirty and quite frankly one of the ugliest pieces of roadway in New York. When I look at this photo I think of an abandoned desert that some courageous pioneers, tried to make fruitful. That's a little glimpse into how I think and what I use for inspiration.
